chrony software package provides Versatile implementation of the Network Time Protocol, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install chrony
chrony is installed in your system.
Make ensure the chrony package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep chrony *
You will get with chrony package name, version, architecture and description in a table
